Judge Sets First N.J. Vioxx Case for Trial; Others Slated

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The judge overseeing the New Jersey Vioxx litigation has set the first case for trial. In Re: VIOXX Litigation, Case Code 619 (N.J. Super. Ct., Atlantic Cty.).
According to an order entered in the Atlantic County Superior Court, jury selection will begin in the case of Humeston v. Merck & Co., Inc., ATL-L-2272-03 on Sept. 12.
Judge Carol E. Higbee, who oversees the state's coordinated Vioxx proceedings, set the Humeston case first for trial in her June 8 order, which also includes deadlines for pretrial motions, deposition testimony and the exchange of witness and exhibit lists …
