Jury Awards $12.9 Million to Three Accutane Plaintiffs

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - A New Jersey jury has awarded nearly $13 million to three Florida residents who claim they developed inflammatory bowel disease as a result of ingesting Accutane. Speisman v. Hoffmann-La Roche, No. 000196-05; Mace v. Hoffmann-La Roche, No. 000199-05; Sager v. Hoffmann-La Roche, No. 000197-05 (N.J. Super. Ct., Atlantic Cty.).
Jurors in Atlantic County Superior Court returned the verdict Nov. 19, finding that Accutane manufacturer Hoffmann-La Roche failed to provide adequate warning that the popular acne drug could cause the injuries suffered by the three plaintiffs.
