Nation's First Rezulin Trial Ends in Settlement

JACKSON, Miss. - Parties involved in the first Rezulin case to go to trial in the United States reached a settlement agreement Nov. 5, a day before opening statements were slated to begin in a Mississippi trial court. Cunningham v. Warner-Lambert, No. n/a (Miss. Cir. Ct., Hinds Cty.).
The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court for Hinds County, Miss., by Ouida Cunningham on behalf of her husband, Orville. The 61-year-old sociology professor had taken Rezulin from May 1997 to November 1998, when he experienced liver failure. He received a liver transplant in June 1999, but died six months later …
