Settlement Follows $43 Million Award in Texas Rezulin Case

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Pfizer Inc. reached an eleventh-hour settlement in a Rezulin personal injury case in Texas, just hours after a jury awarded the plaintiff $43 million for injuries she said were caused by the drug. Sanchez v. Pfizer Inc., No. n/a (Texas Dist. Ct., Nueces Cty.).
The settlement was reached Dec. 21 as the jury was deliberating punitive damages and vacated the compensatory damages awarded to the family of Margarita Sanchez earlier in the day.
