RENO, Nev. - A Nevada judge has refused to grant Wyeth a new trial after a jury awarded $134 million to three women who claim their breast cancer was caused by Wyeth's Prempro and Premarin hormone replacement drugs. Rowatt, et al.[McCreary] v. Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, et al., No. CV04-01699 (Nev. Dist. Ct., Washoe Cty. ).
Washoe County District Court Judge Robert Perry on Feb . 6 rejected Wyeth's assertions that it is entitled to a new trial because the jury mistakenly considered punitive damages in the initial phase of the verdict, which was to include only compensatory damages.
