FDA Announces New Warnings for Class of Diabetes Drugs

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The FDA announced on Aug. 14 that manufacturers of a class of drugs used to treat Type 2 diabetes have agreed to strengthen warnings related to an increased risk of heart failure.
According to a statement issued by the agency, new information about the risk will be included in a boxed warning, emphasizing that the drug may cause or worsen heart failure in certain patients who take the drugs.
