Plaintiff Seeks New Trial Following Wyeth Effexor Verdict

BENTON, Ill. - A plaintiff who failed to persuade a federal jury to find that an antidepressant drug manufacturer was to blame for her husband's suicide has moved for a new trial alleging several instances where evidence was unfairly kept from jurors. Giles v. Wyeth Inc., No. 04-4245 (S.D. Ill.).
In a motion filed July 24 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois Jacquelyn Giles says that she was unable to present evidence at trial related to warnings that bolstered allegations that her husband's suicide was related to his ingestion of Effexor.
