Jury Awards $1.5 Million on Provera-Related Breast Cancer Claim




PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania jurors have ordered drug maker Pfizer to pay $1.5 million to a New Jersey woman who claimed she developed breast cancer as a result of taking a hormone replacement regimen that included the company's drug, Provera. Simon v. Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc., et al., No. 040604229 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).

The Philadelphia Common Pleas Court jury returned the verdict May 15 after six hours of deliberation and four weeks of trial.
