Jury Awards $2.5 Million in Accutane Trial

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- After three days of deliberations, a New Jersey jury has awarded $2.5 million to a man who claimed illnesses relating to his bowels were caused by Accutane use, sources confirmed to HarrisMartin. McCarrell v. Hoffmann LaRoche Inc., et al., No. L-1951-03 (N.J. Super. Ct., Atlantic Cty.).

The Atlantic County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on May 29, finding that Roche Holding AG failed to warn of bowel disease risks, according to published reports.

The claims were asserted by Andrew McCarrell, who said he has had his colon removed as a result of using Accutane.
