LUBBOCK, Texas - A 66-year-old woman has sued a pharmaceutical company that manufactures a bowel purgative drug, claiming that it failed to warn her that ingesting the product could cause severe kidney damage. Griffin v. Salix Pharmaceuticals, No. 07-56 (N.D. Texas).
Rebecca Griffin and her husband sued Salix Pharmaceuticals on March 2 in Lubbock County District Court, nearly a year after Griffen was prescribed Visicol tablets in preparation for a routine colonoscopy. The case has been removed to the U.S. District for the Northern District of Texas.
