INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The parents of a Missouri toddler have sued Pfizer Inc., alleging that the company failed to warn of potentially fatal side effects associated with its Benadryl itch cream the plaintiffs say caused their son's death. Tillmon v. Pfizer Inc., No. 0716-CV04093 (Mo. Cir. Ct., Jackson Cty.).
In a lawsuit filed Feb. 23 in Jackson County Circuit Court, Quinton and Chereatha Tillmon contend that Pfizer failed to include in its warning label for Benadryl Itch Stopping Cream any information that the active ingredient, diphenhydramine, could cause a fatal toxic reaction in children.
