TRENTON, N.J. - A defendant named in 151 lawsuits alleging injury caused by the Depo-Provera contraceptive have asked a New Jersey state court administrator to centralize the cases before one judge for pre-trial management purposes. Re: Application for Mass Tort Centralization Management, No. n/a (N.J. Sup. Ct.).
In a Jan. 23 letter to New Jersey's Administrative Director of the Courts, Pfizer contends that designating the litigation as a mass tort and allowing the claims to proceed in one court would promote efficiency and benefit all parties involved in the cases.
