Pa. Jury Doubles Prior Prempro Verdict After Retrial of Ohio Woman's Case

PHILADELPHIA - Jurors have awarded an Ohio couple $3 million at the conclusion of a state court Prempro trial, nearly four months after a judge threw out a $1.5 million verdict that was returned by another jury hearing the case. Nelson v. Wyeth, No. 040101670 (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).
The verdict was handed up Feb. 20 in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas after jurors found Prempro manufacturer Wyeth liable for plaintiff Jennie Nelson's breast cancer, which Nelson blamed on the hormone replacement drug.
