Jury Awards $1.5 Million for Prempro Breast Cancer Claim

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia jury has found Prempro manufacturer Wyeth liable for causing an Arkansas woman's breast cancer and awarded her and her husband $1.5 million in compensatory damages.
Jurors in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas took two days to determine that Wyeth was negligent in failing to warn Mary Daniel of breast cancer risks associated with its hormone replacement therapy drug.
On Jan. 29, the seven of the eight jurors voted to award Daniel $1 million in compensatory damages and $500,000 to Daniel's husband for loss of consortium. The trial now proceeds to the punitive damages …
