ORLANDO - The plaintiffs in the Seroquel MDL have filed a master complaint saying AstraZeneca exaggerated the antipsychotic's benefits while undermining its risks. In re: Seroquel Products Liability Litigation. MDL No. 1769. Case No. 6:06-md-1769 (M.D. Fla.).
In the complaint filed Sept. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, potential MDL plaintiffs were identified as individuals who suffered injuries from ingesting AstraZeneca's Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate) atypical antipsychotic. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created the Seroquel MDL after considering petitions at its May 25 hearing [See Story in Columns-Drugs & Supplements, July 2006].
