Baycol Defendants Move to Exclude Expert's 'Junk Science' Testimony

MINNEAPOLIS - The Baycol MDL defendants have moved to exclude the testimony of Plaintiff Steering Committee expert Dr. John W. Farquhar, saying his statements are "junk science that should be excluded under Daubert." In re: Baycol Products Liability Litigation. MDL No. 1431. Case No. 0:01-md-01431 (D. Minn.).
In their April 18 motion in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, Bayer and GlaxoSmithKline claim that "[t]he centerpiece of Dr. Farquhar's testimony is an analysis concocted specifically for this litigation that Dr. Farquhar presents as an epidemiological study."
