JPML Creates Aredia/Zometa MDL; Decides Against Fosamax, Actonel

NASHVILLE - The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation recently granted in part a plaintiff's petition to create a bisphosphonate drugs MDL by transferring and consolidating more than two dozen Aredia and Zometa claims, but not Fosamax and Actonel claims, to a Tennessee federal court. In re Aredia and Zometa Products Liability Litigation. MDL No. 1760 (M.D. Tenn.).

On April 18, the JPML transferred 27 Aredia and Zometa personal injury claims to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, saying these cases involve common issues of fact. The docket, originally named In re Bisphosphonate Drugs Product Liability Litigation
