N.Y. Woman Sues Merck for Alleged Fosamax Injuries

NEW YORK - A New York woman recently sued Merck & Co. Inc., claiming its Fosamax osteoporosis drug caused her jaw disease. Edwards v. Merck & Co. Inc. No. 1:05-cv-01645 (E.D. N.Y.).
Dorothy R. Edwards sued Merck in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York on April 7, claiming Fosamax ( alendronate) caused her to develop osteonecrosis. Edwards consumed the drug for an unspecified amount of time.
According to the plaintiff, Merck failed to warn physicians and consumers about the risk of osteonecrosis from Fosamax, a drug in the bisphosphonate family.
