Okla. Woman Says Celexa Use During Pregnancy Caused Son's Death

NEW YORK - An Oklahoma woman is suing Forest Laboratories, claiming that the Celexa antidepressant she consumed while pregnant caused her son's birth defects and eventual death. Drewry v. Forest Laboratories Inc., No. 06-CV-951 (S.D. N.Y.).

Debra Drewry sued Forest Laboratories on Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Drewry says she began consuming Celexa (citalopram HBr), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, on Nov. 21, 2002, for anxiety. She says she became pregnant on Dec. 10, 2002, and ceased taking the antidepressant in May 2003. On Sept. 2, 2003, Drewry gave birth …
