Health Canada Reviews Ortho Evra's Label Change OTTAWA, Canada - Health Canada is currently reviewing whether the recent FDA-approved label change for Johnson & Johnson's Ortho Evra is required for Evra, Canadian version of the birth control patch. On Nov. 10, the Food and Drug Administration approved a revision to the Ortho Evra patch labeling to alert healthcare professionals and consumers that the patch may increase the risk of blood clots because it transmits 60 percent more estrogen than oral birth control pills [See Story in Columns-Drugs & Supplements, November 2005].
