Ill. Woman Claims her Stroke was Caused by Stacker 2

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - An Illinois woman sued NVE Pharmaceuticals Inc. and QuikTrip Corp. on July 13, claiming that the hemorrhagic stroke she suffered was caused by the manufacturer's herbal dietary supplement Stacker 2® that she purchased from a QuikTrip convenience store. Johnson v. NVE Inc., et al. No. 3:05-cv-00496-MJR, (S.D. Ill.).
Marguerite Johnson filed her claim in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. She alleges that the October 2003 hemorrhagic stroke she suffered was a result of consuming Stacker 2, which contained ephedra (ephedrine).
