Pa. Woman Cannot Prove Wyeth's Alleged Failure to Warn Caused her Injuries, Judge Says

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia court affirmed summary judgment for Wyeth on May 23, saying a Pennsylvania woman couldn't prove that the pharmaceutical company's alleged failure to warn about possible heart valve damage from diet drugs was the 'proximate cause' of her injuries. Lineberger v. Wyeth, et al. No. 1138 EDA 2005 (Pa. Ct. of Comm. Pl., Philadelphia Cty.).
Plaintiff Patricia R. Lineberger alleged that she developed aortic and mitral valve regurgitation from consuming two of Wyeth's prescription diet drugs, Pondimin (fenfluramine hydrochloride) and Redux (dexfenfluramine).
