Texas Man Alleges Vision Loss from Viagra Use, Sues Pfizer

HOUSTON - A Texas man sued Pfizer Inc. on June 7, alleging the Viagra he consumed caused him to go blind. Thompson v. Pfizer Inc. No. 4:05-cv-01985 (S.D. Texas.).
Plaintiff James Thompson sued Pfizer in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Thompson claims the impotence drug Viagra (sildenafil), which he used for an unspecified amount of time, caused him to be diagnosed with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, 'which results from a drop in blood pressure, which restricts the flow of oxygenated blood to the optic nerve, causing irreversible vision loss and blindness.'
