Ohio Woman Claims Crestor Caused Her Renal Failure

HAMILTON, Ohio - An Ohio woman sued AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals on April 5, alleging that the company's cholesterol drug, Crestor, caused her renal failure. Reece v. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. No. 1:05-cv-00322 (Ohio Comm. Pls., Butler Cty.).
Plaintiff Carolyn Reece says she used Crestor (rosuvastatin calcium) to treat and control her cholesterol from April to July 2004. She alleges she suffered rhabdomyolysis and renal failure as a result of its consumption.
Reece contends she endures physical pain and suffering, mental and emotional anguish, distress, and economic loss, including medical and prescription expenses.
