Va. Widow Blames Husband's Congestive Heart Failure on GlaxoSmithKline Drug

RICHMOND, Va. - A Virginia woman charges in a recently amended federal court complaint that her husband's death from heart failure resulted from his use of the diabetes drug Avandia (rosiglitazone maleate). Jenkins v. GlaxoSmithKline, No. 3:04-CV-729 (E.D. Va.).
Barbara S. Jenkins filed an amended complaint against GlaxoSmithKline, Avandia's manufacturer, on Jan. 18. Jenkins originally filed in state court but GlaxoSmithKline removed the action to federal court, citing diversity jurisdiction.
