BIRMINGHAM - A woman is suing the manufacturer of Zicam as well as the pharmacy where she purchased the over-the-counter cold remedy claiming that her use of the product caused her to lose her sense of smell and taste. Wyatt v. Matrixx Initiatives Inc. et al. No. CV-04-AR-1230 (N.D. Ala.).
Susan Wyatt complains in her June 15 lawsuit that Zicam manufacturers Matrixx Initiatives Inc. and its subsidiary Zicam failed to adequately warn consumers and retailers about the product's ability to cause anosmia.
