NEW YORK - The family of a 19-year-old woman who died as a result of complications from a liver transplant in August 2000 is suing Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), alleging that the woman's use of the antidepressant Serzone caused her to develop the condition. Collins v. Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. No. n/a (N.Y. Sup. Ct., New York Cty.).
Robert F. Collins, trustee of the estate of Cassie Jo Geisenhof, filed the suit May 17, complaining that Serzone is defective and unreasonably dangerous and that the drug maker failed to adequately warn about the drug's association with liver failure.
