30 Utah Residents Sue SmithKline Alleging Paxil Withdrawal Symptoms

SALT LAKE CITY - SmithKline Beecham (SKB), the manufacturer of Paxil, is being sued by 30 Utah residents who claim they suffered withdrawal symptoms when they attempted to reduce or stop using the antidepressant. Bean, et al. v. SmithKline Beecham Corp. No. 04-CV-00511 (D. Utah).
The plaintiffs, led by Lynette Bean, filed their complaint June 3, contending that SKB concealed information about Paxil's ability to induce dependency and instead promoted the drug as non-habit forming.
