Woman Files Wrongful Death Suit Alleging Physician Failed to Warn about Accutane Suicide Risk

EUGENE, Ore. - An Oregon woman whose son committed suicide in May 2001 is suing the physician who prescribed him Accutane, claiming that she failed to inform them about the acne treatment's association with an increased risk of suicide. Greufe v. PeaceHealth, et al. No. 160409549 (Ore. Cir. Ct., Lane Cty.).
Diane Colleen Greufe filed the lawsuit May 14 in Oregon's Circuit Court for Lane County, alleging that Dr. Patricia O' Hare inappropriately prescribed Accutane to her son Dustin and failed to monitor her son for adverse psychiatric side effects that may be caused by the drug.
