MINNEAPOLIS - A woman is suing the manufacturer of Zoloft, claiming that her husband's use of the antidepressant for five weeks caused him to commit suicide. Witczak v. Pfizer Inc. No. WD 04-6680 (Minn. Dist. Ct., Hennepin Cty., 4th Jud. Dist.).
Kimberely K. Witczak alleges in her May 20 lawsuit, which was filed in Minnesota's 4th Judicial District Court in Hennepin County that Pfizer concealed information about Zoloft's side effects from consumers and the medical community. She also claims that the company employed an aggressive marketing campaign that misrepresented the safety of the antidepressant.
