Article: Possible Association of Acute Lateral-Wall Myocardial Infarction and Bitter Orange Supplement

Summary: Bitter orange or synephrine has been associated with adverse cardiovascular reactions. The present article describes the report of a 55-year-old woman who went to the emergency room complaining of dull, aching shoulder pain and chest pain. A review of the woman's medications revealed that she had been using a multicomponent supplement containing 300 mg of bitter orange for the past year.
