FRANKFURT, Ky. - A Kentucky Circuit Court judge recently resigned after allegations surfaced that he profited from a $200 million Fen-Phen settlement.
Circuit Judge Joseph F. Bamberger officially resigned on Feb. 24 and Kentucky's Judicial Conduct Commission issued him a letter of reprimand the same day. The Commission accuses the judge of approving between $86 million and $104 million in attorney fees and of profiting from a charitable fund that was set up in the settlement by appointing himself and his friends as directors.
