LAFAYETTE, La. - A Louisiana man recently filed a $3 million lawsuit against Remicade manufacturer Centocor Inc., claiming that the rheumatoid arthritis treatment led to the amputation of both feet at the ankles. Harvey H. Lourd, Jr. v. Centocor, Inc., No. CV04-0475 (W.D. La., Lafayette-Opelousas Div.).
Plaintiff Harvey Lourd Jr.'s Feb. 20 complaint claimed that Centocor failed to adequately warn physicians and consumers about Remicade's association with an increased risk of developing serious infections, invasive fungal infections, lymphoma, listeria sepsis, heart failure and death, especially in patients with diabetes.
