Cytodyne President Moves to Include Orioles in Wrongful Death Suit

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The president of Cytodyne Technologies Inc., recently moved to file a third-party complaint against the Baltimore Orioles, claiming that the organization contributed to the death of pitcher Steve Bechler. Kiley Bechler, v. Cytodyne Technologies, Inc., et al., No. 03-61369-CIV (S.D. Fla.)

Cytodyne President Robert Chinery's Dec. 1 motion for leave to file a third-party complaint stated that the Orioles organization was aware of the dangers of heat stroke, but allowed Bechler to practice in excessively hot temperatures without properly trained medical personnel.
