WASHINGTON - The lead plaintiffs in a suit alleging that they suffered withdrawal symptoms when attempting to taper or stop using the GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) antidepressant Paxil have filed a petition to the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) requesting the creation of a MDL docket for similar cases involving Paxil-related withdrawal cases. In re: Paxil Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 1574 (JPML).

The plaintiffs' Sept. 10 petition stated that centralization is warranted because 13 other cases proceeding through 11 district courts across the country allege similar injuries and assert the same claims against GSK. The plaintiffs contended that the …
