PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The manufacturer of Lipitor responded to a lawsuit filed by a man who claimed that his use of the cholesterol-lowering drug caused him to lose his ability to speak. Roger Gullett v. Pfizer, Inc., No. 03-CV-00308-DCR (E.D. Ky., Eastern Div.).
In its Answer and Affirmative Defenses, Pfizer contended that Lipitor is not defective and unreasonably dangerous and that it was supplied with adequate warnings regarding potential side effects. The drug company also stated in the Oct. 6 document that the plaintiff failed to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.
