BATON ROUGE, La. - The manufacturer of Vioxx filed a motion for summary judgment in a case filed by a Louisiana woman who claims she sustained cardiac injuries as a result of using the arthritis medication. Genevieve C. Wascom v. Merck & Co., Inc., No. 02-CV-460 (M.D. La.).
Merck's Oct. 2 motion contends it is entitled to summary judgment because the plaintiff's prescribing physician testified that the package insert accompanying the drug provided him with sufficient information regarding potential side effects.
