PHILADELPHIA - A Missouri couple's PPA-related injury case was dismissed with prejudice by a Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas judge who found that the plaintiffs' claims had no meaningful connection to Pennsylvania. Barbara Thorpe, et al., v. Bayer Corp., No. 020700133 July Term (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pleas, Phila. Cty.).
In an order and opinion entered Sept. 24, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Norman Ackerman concluded that the case should not be litigated in Pennsylvania because plaintiff Barbara Thorpe purchased the PPA-containing product and suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in Missouri.
