SIOUX CITY, Iowa - An Iowa woman filed suit against the manufacturer of Xenadrine claiming that her ingestion of the ephedra-containing dietary supplement caused her to suffer a stroke at age 30. Carol A. Leuenhagen and Kevin Leuenhagen, v. Cytodyne Technologies, Inc., No. C03-4078MWB (N.D. Iowa, Sioux City Div.).
In a complaint docketed Aug. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, plaintiff Carol Leuenhagen alleges that Cytodyne Technologies failed to adequately warn consumers of the potentially life-threatening side effects associated with ephedra.
