PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania man filed a wrongful death suit against the manufacturer of Metabolife claiming that his wife's ingestion of the ephedra-based supplement caused her to suffer a fatal internal carotid artery aneurysm. Duane J. Rowe, Administrator of the Estate of Shirley Rowe, deceased v. Metabolife International, Inc., et al., No. 03-cv-04346-MMB (E.D. Pa.).

The July 24 complaint states that the warning label on the Metabolife 356 bottle was inadequate because it failed to inform consumers of potentially life-threatening side effects associated with the use of the product such as intracranial hemorrhage, heart disease, seizure and psychosis.
