Consumer Group Issues "Do Not Use" Warning for New Cholesterol Drug
The consumer advocacy group Public Citizen issued a "Do Not Use" warning about Crestor, the recently-approved cholesterol-lowering drug manufactured by AstraZeneca, because of the drug's ability to cause kidney damage and rhabdomyolysis, a condition characterized by the destruction of muscle tissue that leads to kidney failure.
