Iowa Federal Jury Awards Biomet M2a Hip Plaintiffs $3.5 Million Following In-Person Trial

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — An Iowa federal jury has handed down a $3.5 million verdict in a Biomet M2a Magnum hip action, finding the metal-on-metal device was defectively designed, causing a couple’s injuries.

In a Nov. 23 verdict, the jury, sitting in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, awarded Lori Nicholson and her husband $1.05 million in compensatory damages and $2.5 million in punitive damages.
