Injuries Allegedly Caused by Next Generation Diabetes Drug Spur Growing Litigation





Within the past month, a rising number of diabetes patients have filed suit against GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for injuries they allegedly sustained as a result of using Avandia.

The plaintiffs, who are seeking unspecified amounts in damages, claim that GSK failed to adequately warn consumers and physicians of the potential dangers of the drug.

'We believe that GSK failed to adequately warn of the serious cardiac complications such as heart failure as well as serious liver complications such as drug-induced hepatitis and cirrhosis,' explained plaintiff 's attorney Michael Schmidt of The Schmidt Firm in Dallas.
