NEW ALBANY, Miss. - A woman recently filed suit against GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the manufacturer of Avandia, claiming that her mother's death was proximately caused by side effects she experienced after ingesting the diabetes drug. Betty McAlister v. SmithKline Beecham, et al., No. N/A, (Miss. Cir. Ct., Union Cty.).
Plaintiff Betty McAlister filed the suit July 2 in the Circuit Court of Union County. She alleges that GSK, and Thomas F. Barkley, M.D., the doctor who prescribed the drug, failed to adequately warn decedent Martha Taylor of the potential dangers of Avandia.
