PLAQUEMINE, La. - A multi-plaintiff joinder suit involving 84 Louisiana residents who allegedly experienced withdrawal symptoms, dependency and/or addiction to Paxil was recently filed against SmithKline, the manufacturer of the antidepressant. Victoria James, et al., v. SmithKline Beecham Corp., No. 59,258 (La. Dist. Ct., Parish of Iberville, 18th Dist.).
The complaint states that the drug maker failed to sufficiently warn prescribing doctors and patients of the drug's association with these adverse events.
