The long-term use of estrogen plus progestin forms of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), such as Prempro, by women 65 years of age and older can lead to an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease, dementia and mild cognitive impairment, researchers recently found. photo-4 The results of the study, which were published in the May 28 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, revealed that the risk of developing dementia doubled in women using Prempro for four or more years.
