Parents File Suit Against Supplement Maker for Death of 16-Year-Old Son

LINCOLN, Ill. - The parents of a 16-year-old whose death was allegedly caused by his ingestion of a product containing ephedra have filed suit against the supplement maker and the convenience store that sold the product. Kevin Riggins and Debbie Riggins v. NVE Pharmaceuticals, Inc., et al., No. 03-L-14 (Ill. Cir. Ct., Logan Cty., 11th Dist.).

The suit, filed in the Logan County Circuit Court, Eleventh District, claims that NVE Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Yellow Jackets, and Ayers Illinois, the company that owns the store where the supplement was purchased, sold a defective product and failed to adequately warn consumers …
