Conn. Judge Upholds Compensatory Damages Award in Pradaxa Bleeding Action

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut state court judge has upheld a jury award of $542,645.45 in compensatory damages to a New York man who suffered gastrointestinal bleeding after taking Boehringer Ingelheim’s blood-thinning drug Pradaxa to treat his atrial fibrillation.

On Sept. 12, Judge Carl Schuman of the Hartford County Superior Court found plaintiff Eugene Roberto proved via expert testimony that Pradaxa proximately caused his bleed.
