New Lawsuit Says Stryker’s Tritanium Acetabular Cup Failed 1 Year After Implantation

HACKENSACK, N.J. — A Virginia man has sued Stryker Orthopaedics in New Jersey state court, alleging the defective design and manufacture of his Stryker Tritanium Acetabular Cup (TAC) caused it to fail after only one year, necessitating revision surgery.

In an Aug. 14 complaint filed in the Bergen County (N.J.) Superior Court, the plaintiff contends that the device’s porous design is incompatible with human tissue and is prone to acetabular loosening and fibrous ingrowth. He further alleges Stryker knew of those defects but failed to warn surgeons and the public.
