Causation Established in Pelvic Mesh Case, Wis. Federal Judge Says

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A woman who suffered complications after being implanted with an Ethicon Prolift transvaginal mesh device has established a link between the company’s allegedly inadequate warnings and her injuries, a Wisconsin federal judge has ruled.
In a July 15 order, Judge William C. Griesbach of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin referred to evidence that Ethicon omitted certain hazards from the device’s Instructions for Use and knowingly failed to completely disclose the known risks to physicians and patients.
